David Lewis Brooks

Born: 7/7/1963
Died: 8/2/2026
Age: 63
Community: Flushing, MI

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of David Lewis Brooks, who passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by his family on August 2, 2026. There will be a gathering of family and friends from 11 a.m. until 7 p.m. on Friday, August 7, 2026, at Caterer Family (formerly Rossell) Funeral Home. A time of memory sharing will begin at 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the family for his grandchildren’s education fund. Checks may be made payable to Suzanne Brooks.

David was born in Flint, Michigan on July 7, 1963, the son of Tony and Verlene (Rogers) Hoskey. He was a graduate of Flushing High School, class of 1981. David married Suzanne Faille on May 2, 1986, at St. Robert Catholic Church in Flushing. He worked for AC Delco/Delphi/Aptiv and later Unwired and Indie Semiconductor.

Dave lived a life defined by love, hard work, resilience, and an unwavering devotion to his family. He was someone who could always be counted on, whether it was offering a helping hand, sharing a laugh, or simply being present for those he loved.

His strength of character and kind heart will leave a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to have known him.

Dave enjoyed hunting and fishing, planting his many gardens, traveling to his tiny cabin in Traverse City and to the Upper Peninsula and found happiness in the simple moments spent with family and friends. But nothing gave him greater joy than spending time with the people he loved most and watching his family grow. His stories, sense of humor, wisdom, “attributes” and quiet strength will be deeply missed but forever remembered.

Above all, Dave cherished his family. He was a devoted husband, loving father, proud Gee Gee to his grandchildren and bonus grandchildren and the fun Unkie. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Suzanne; children, Lindsay (Katie Kyle) Brooks, Kevin (Ericka) Brooks; grandchildren, Bryar and Brynlee Brooks, Adaline and Ella Brooks; bonus grandchildren, Laila, Miley and King; sisters, Patty Banasiak, Tonya (Michael) Wyczalek; many nieces and nephews; and extended family and countless friends who will carry his memory in their hearts. He was preceded in death by his parents, Tony and Verlene Hoskey; mother and father-in-law, Gordon and Barbara Faille; and his father, Richard Brooks.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the loved ones who provided care, compassion, and support during his final days, especially his “best nurse”, Brookie and his private nurse, “sis”, Patty.

Though our hearts are broken, we find comfort in knowing that his love, guidance, and legacy will remain with us always. He will be deeply missed and forever loved.
