ANGELL, Eugene Merrill - Of Davison, formerly of Flint, age 89, died Thursday, September 13, 2018 at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Funeral service will be held 12pm Tuesday, September 18, 2018 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint,
Pastor Steve Wood officiating.
Burial in Great Lakes National Cemetery.
Contributions may be made to the Shriner’s Hospital for Children.
Visitation 12-8pm Monday and 11am Tuesday until the time of the service at the funeral home. A Masonic Memorial Service will be held 6pm Monday evening at the funeral home.
Eugene was born in Flint on August 23, 1929, the son of the late Merrill and Irene (Scobey) Angell. On February 23, 1957, he married Betty Carolyn Twyman in Flint. Eugene was a Veteran of the United States Army serving in the Korean War. He was employed with General Motors for 40 plus years and was a member of UAW Local #659. After retiring from GM Truck Plant, he worked at Luigis and El Toros. Eugene was also a lifetime Master Mason, El Khurafeh, Hillbillies Unit of the Shriners and Morning Star Lodge. He loved to spend time up north fishing, camping and boating. Eugene also loved to spend time with his grandchildren and never missed a birthday or sporting event.
Surviving are wife of 61 years, Betty;
children, Pam Bailey, David Angell, Jill (Matthew) Martorelli;
grandchildren, Megan VanDerWerken, Lauren Bailey, Ally Bailey and Tyler Brown;
great-grandchildren, Kennedy VanDerWerken, Jaxon VanDerWerken;
siblings, Russell (Carmie) Angell, Diane (George) Gutgesell;
and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandson, Matthew Angell.
