Vallier, Frances of Flushing, age 92, died Thursday, December 25, 2014, at McLaren-Flint, of a sudden illness. Funeral services will be 12 noon, Monday, December 29, 2014, at Rossell Funeral Home. Pastor David Hensler will officiate. Burial will follow at Flushing Cemetery. Visitation will be 12-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday and 9 a.m. until the time of the service at noon, Monday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, her favorite charity, to which she contributed for over forty years.
Frances was born in Detroit, Michigan on January 13, 1922, the daughter of Faro and Marietta (Taormina) Ruffino. She married Clarence Vallier on Thanksgiving day in 1948; he preceded her in death on February 27, 2006. Frances was fiercely and proudly independent and vital until the end of her life. She loved to regale her friends with tales of the many travels she undertook with Clarence after retirement, and many stories from her long and active life. Frances enjoyed spending her time quilting, gardening, reading mystery novels, and painting. She also enjoyed watching and caring for the wildlife outside of her home.
Frances is survived by her children, Mary Catherine Greene of Ft. Myers, FL, Marguerite Ann and husband Douglas Miller of Flushing, Robert Lowell Vallier of Paris, France; grandchildren, Kenneth Murphy and Russell Miller; sister, Mary Furlong; brother, Gaspare and wife Anna Ruffino; close friends, Joyce Engle, Gerry LaFave, Cindy Thurston, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her son, James Joseph Vallier, brother, Faro Ruffino, Jr, sister-in-law Virginia Ruffino, and brother-in-law Jack Furlong. |
