HAMMOND, Florence M. - Of Grand Blanc, age 98, died Friday, January 9, 2015 at Genesys Regional Medical Center.
Memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, January 17, 2015 at Woodside Church, 1509 East Court Street, Reverend Dr. Deborah Conrad officiating.
Cremation has already taken place.
Those desiring may make contributions to Woodside Women.
Visitation 1 p.m. Saturday, January 17, 2015 at church until the time of the service.
Florence was born in Elmira, NY on May 31, 1916, the daughter of the late Lester and Susie (Snover) Freeland.
She married Hugh C. Hammond on January 9, 1937 in Elmira Heights, New York.
Mrs. Hammond was a member of Woodside Church and Woodside Women. She was a lifetime member of the Pythian Sisters since 1962 and American Business Women’s Association.
She loved golfing, bowling, reading, crocheting, playing cards and doing puzzles.
Mrs. Hammond worked as a sales clerk at Sears for many years.
She leaves behind four children, Donald and wife Suzanne Hammond of Davison, Janice and husband Larry Crane of Burton, Ann Hobson of Grand Blanc, Marilee and husband William Van Horssen of Lake Orion, Michigan;
daughter-in-law, Linda Troy;
9 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren;
11 great-great-grandchildren;
sister, Phyllis and husband Jack Slocum of Horseheads, New York;
several nieces and nephews
She was preceded in death by her husband, Hugh, in 1999 and brothers Francis, Stuart and Herbert Freeland.
