Ilene Rose Hollenbeck of Richfield Township, age 86, died Tuesday October 31, 2017 at her residence. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Friday November 3, 2017 at Davison Missionary Church 1481 N. Gale Rd. Davison. Pastor Douglas Connelly officiating: with private burial in Flint Memorial Park. Family will receive visitors from 3 – 8 pm Thursday at the funeral home. Ilene will lie in state at the church from 10:00 am Friday until time of services. Those desiring may make contributions in Ilene’s memory to Davison Missionary Church or Carriage Town Ministries.
Irene was born in Alpena Michigan on July 14, 1931 the daughter of the late; Guy & Sarah (Hawley) Gohl and has resided in the area since 1967. She was joined in marriage to Robert Lee Hollenbeck on July 7, 1951 in Alpena Michigan. She was a member of Davison Missionary Church, were she taught Sunday School and served as the Sunday School Secretary. She also was a former member of the Cub Scouts and Girl Scouts of America. Ilene also served as a Health Chairman and Homeroom Mother at Homedale Elementary School while raising her family.
She is the loving wife of Robert, dear mother of: David w. (Barbara) Hollenbeck, William D. (Kathy) Hollenbeck, and grandmother to six grandchildren, six great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild. Also she leaves her siblings; Thomas (Gloria) Gohl, Eleanor Howay, Dora Frey, Betty (Oscar) Wirgau, brother in law Marvin Hackel, and a host of other relatives. She is preceded in death by daughters Sharon L. Preston, Robyn G. Mitchell, and siblings Jean Hackel, Gloria Landry, Delyn Wirgau, Robert Gohl, and Grace Wysocki.
