On May 8, 2026, Nathan “Nate” Kavula passed away at Henry Ford Genesys Hospital in Grand Blanc, Michigan.
He was born April 6, 1978, in Adrian, Michigan and was raised in Genesee, Michigan by his parents Ken and Natalie Kavula.
Nate graduated from Genesee High School in 1996 and graduated with high honors from the Mott Community College Food Service Management Program in 2013.
He enjoyed listening to music and singing, both in the high school choir and as part of a Michigan touring group to Europe. He was a member of the High School Marching Band, Concert Band and Jazz Band, with numerous medals in voice and trumpet competitions.
He was proud of his culinary skills and worked in various food service positions, as well as cooking for the family. He always tried to make his food perfect and, whether it was his broccoli cheddar soup or lemon cheesecake, the recipes were delicious.
Watching football games was a must, and a frequent subject at the family dinner table was the rivalry between University of Michigan and Ohio State. An avid fan of U of M, he often led the debate over which school had the better team. In his eyes Ohio State could never compare to Michigan, and there was no doubt about it.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents Joe and Katie Kavula and Robert and Maude Jones, and his nephew Anthony Betzoldt.
Surviving family are his daughter Amber Kavula, parents Ken and Natalie Kavula, sister and brother-in-law Heather and Garrett Duso, brother Jason Betzoldt, many nieces, and a nephew, whom he loved dearly.
