Troy Curtis Skinner, son of James D Skinner, and Gloria D Franklin passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 21st, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born and raised in the Clio Area, Troy was a man deeply connected to nature and the simple joys of life. He found peace and adventure in the outdoors — whether deer hunting, casting a line in a quiet stream, or sharing stories around a campfire. These moments were often spent with his family, including his brothers, uncles, aunts, and cousins, with whom he shared strong and lasting bonds. Troy’s love for the wilderness was matched only by his devotion to those closest to him, and his presence brought warmth, laughter, and connection to every gathering.
Troy was a proud and devoted father to his two sons, Tristian and Storm. He treasured every moment with them, instilling in them the values of resilience, respect, and the importance of living life to the fullest. Alongside his beloved partner, Hannah, and her daughter, Winter, Troy helped create a home filled with love, laughter, and deep connection. His role as a father figure to Winter was one he embraced wholeheartedly, and together they shared many joyful memories. Known for his strength, humor, and unwavering spirit, Troy faced his illness with bravery and grace, inspiring those around him with his determination and heart.
He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. His legacy lives on in the memories shared, the lessons taught, and the love he gave so freely.
A celebration of Troy’s life will be held at Oguinn Funeral Home on Friday, October 31st at 1PM. Family and friends are invited to gather starting at 11:00 AM to share stories, offer support, and honor Troy’s memory in good spirit. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a cancer research organization or a local wildlife conservation group in Troy’s honor — a tribute to both his courageous journey and his deep love for nature. Through these acts of giving, may others find hope and healing. |
