Deborah Schultz passed away on May 20, 2025 after a nearly seven year struggle with Alzheimers, at The Meadows of Owosso. She was taken from us way too soon, but is now in God's presence in Heaven.
Deborah Diane Lander was born October 30, 1952 in Laurium, Michigan to Lloyd and Jean (Phillips) Lander, the third of 6 daughters.
She was baptized and confirmed at the United Methodist church in Laurium.
In 1969, she met Allyn Schultz, a student at Michigan Technology University. After an initial blind date, a romance grew and they knew that they were meant to be together forever.
On June 1, 1974, they were united in marriage at the United Methodist Church in Laurium. They began their life together in Warsaw, Indiana. On October 15, 1976, they welcomed their firstborn son, Steven Matthew into their lives.
In 1980, they moved back to Michigan. On July 13, 1981, their second son, Andrew David was born.
Debbie chose to be a devoted wife and stay at home mother to raise and nurture her family. She gave much of herself to volunteering at Salem Lutheran Church and School, serving as room mom and youth leader, activities committee, and coordinator of funeral dinners, and a member of Sisters Serving Christ.
She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Allyn, and son, Andrew and daughter-in-law, Shelley, and two grandchildren, Ella and Ethan Schultz. Also surviving her are 4 sisters; Laurel (James) Perko of Marquette, Yvonne Lander of Hubbell, Michigan, Yvette Lander of Marquette, and Dawn (Kevin) Haigh of Surveant, Wisconsin; brother-in-law, Marvin (Shelby) Schultz of Herron, Michigan. Also surviving Debbie are nieces, Loana (Edward) Leveritt, Jamie (Tom) McPartland, Heather (Jason) Robinson, and Jill (Casey) Peters and nephews, James (Angela) Perko, Kenneth (Heather) Rosemergy, Stephen McCormick, Mark (Nina) McCormick, Michael (Vanessa) Schultz, and Mark (Kristen) Schultz; and 17 grand nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased in death by her parents, first born son, Steven Schultz; sister, Carol Rosemergy, sister-in-law, Mary Ellen Schultz, brothers-in-law, Roger Rosemergy, Steve McCormick, and Arlyn Schultz, and Father and mother-in-law, Albert (Dorothy) Schultz.
The family wishes to acknowledge the staff at The Meadows for the compassionate care that she received while residing there.
Visitation will be at Nelson-House Funeral Home on Thursday, May 22, 2025 from 4:00 pm to 8:00pm. A Christian funeral service will be held at 11am on Friday, May 23, 2025 at Salem Lutheran Church. Internment will take place at Pine Tree cemetery at a later date.
Memorial contributions made be directed to Salem Lutheran Church or St. Jude Children's Hospital.
