Clara L. McConnell, 90, of Aledo died Thursday January 13, 2011 at the Mercer County Nursing Home. Services are 11:00 AM Saturday at Fippinger Funeral Home in Aledo. Burial is in the Reynolds cemetery. Visitation is
1 hour prior to services Saturday at Fippingers where memorials may be left to the Preemption United Methodist Church or the Salvation Army.

She was born July 26, 1920 near Osborn, IL. to Brooks and Irene Guldenpfennig Osborn. She attended the Osborn and Andalusia Schools. On March 8, 1941 she was united in marriage to David C. McConnell in Milan, IL. He died December 28, 2000.
Clara was a homemaker and assisted her husband in the operation of their farm until retiring and moving to Aledo in 1979. She was an active member of the Preemption United Methodist Church and its Women’s Association. She was a skillful quilter, an avid gardener and an outstanding creative cook.
Survivors include 2 daughters, Jean Mentzer of Centerton, AR, Nancy Allen of Normal, IL, a son, Jim (Linda) McConnell of Geneva, IL, 4 grandchildren, Brett, Joanna, Clay, Meg, 8 great grandchildren, a sister Virginia Hogren of Prophetstown, IL. and several nieces and nephews.
Her parents, husband, 1 great grandchild Anastasia, 1 sister May Hofer and 2 brothers John and Ben Osborn preceded her in death.
