PANNETT, Wayne Francis – of Clio, age 82, died Monday, April 6, 2026 at his residence. Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, April 10, 2026 at Messiah Lutheran Church. Pastor Erik Cloeter officiating. Burial at Great Lakes National Cemetery at 2:30PM, on Monday April 13, 2026. The family will receive visitors on Thursday, April 9, 2026 from 1:00 PM to 8:00 PM at O’Guinn Family Funeral Home in Clio, Michigan and on Friday from 10:00 AM until the time of service at the church. Memorial contributions can be made to the Messiah Lutheran Church or Wounded Warrior Project.
Wayne was born May 6, 1943 in Wheeling, West Virginia to the late Blaine and Hilda (Smedley) Pannett. He grew up in Colliers, West Virginia and attended Follansbee High School. Wayne proudly served his country in the US Navy as a Navy Seal, Brown Water Navy Swift Boats, in Vietnam from 1963 to 1967. On March 18, 1967 he married Gloria Jacobi in Flint, Michigan. Prior to his retirement in 2007, Wayne worked for GM as a shift leader in Metal Fab with 40 years of service. While at GM, Wayne received 3 awards for inventions and did quality control while setting up other plants all over the country. He was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church, VFW Post # 1452, American Legion Post # 294, Vietnam Veterans of America and the UAW Local 659. Wayne enjoyed hunting, trapping, fishing and trips to the casino. Wayne was well known around the community for his blunt but carefree personality and humor.
Surviving are: Wife of 59 years, Gloria Pannett; Children, Brian (Michelle) Pannett, Robert (Kim) Pannett, Julie (James) Pannett-Hull; Grandchildren, Jessica Pannett, Marissa Pannett, Brian (Kayla) Pannett Jr.; Ellia Pannett, Audrey Pannett, Savannah Pannett, Isabella Pannett, Avani Pichette; Siblings, Darlene Culp, Doreen Davenport, Bonnie Starkey, Elaine Young, Louise Mayberry, Ray Pannett; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his Parents; Siblings, Shirley Henry, Charles Pannett, Arthur Pannett, Blaine Pannett.
