Linda Louise Shields was born on December 24, 1962 in Crawford, MS to Ollie & Lizzie Shields. Growing up under the care and guidance of her grandparents Robert and Mandy Lee Williams, they taught her to fear God. She confessed Christ at an early age at Harrison Grove Missionary Baptist Church under the tutelage of the late Reverend Brown. Linda attended Motley High School graduating in May of 1980. Linda left Mississippi shortly after graduating high school, moving to Flint, MI. She worked various jobs, including General Motors and volunteering at Mclaren Regional Medical Center. Linda moved to Grand Blanc, MI in 2000 where she resided until her passing.
Linda was the epitome of fancy with an exquisite taste for fashion and interior decorating. She kept a versatile collection of the finest cologne and perfumes. She believed that a woman should always look and smell her best. Blessed with the gift of giving and encouragement. Ms. Linda graciously gave her money, time, clothes, and food to others expecting nothing in return. She was always contributing to the needs of others. If she knew you needed something you would wake up to it sitting on your porch. She loved writing inspirational poems and scriptures in cards to give to those that needed encouragement. She would not leave you without giving you something to uplift you. Also, she never met a stranger, she would talk to anyone like she has known them for years, another special attribute of hers. Ms Linda was an ardent dancer and was known for her signature James Brown moves. She had an infectious sense of humor, you were definitely going to get a good laugh anytime she graced you with her presence. Linda started her day at 4:00 a.m. listening to her music and talking to God. Her famous saying “people should have some get up and go about themselves. She will be missed for her radiant smile, eclectic style, and heart to serve.
Linda Louise Shields departed this life on Friday, May 30, 2025. Leaving to cherish wonderful memories, her only daughter LaShunda (Merlyn) Chapman of Flushing, MI granddaughter, Lyric Gabrielle Johnson who she affectionately called her “Poo Poo.”Special niece Santrese (Jessie) Brown and Kisha Gee.
