Wilbur was affectionately known as “Little Bill” was born in Birmingham, Alabama on January 20, 1941 to Robert and Hattie Mae Carson. Having lost both parents at a young age, he was raised by his grandparents, Reverend Robert B. and Carrie Hurd along with his sister, Vivian (Petty, Dunlap) Hurd. Bill began his education at Powderly Elementary School and continued to Wenonah High School where he was a proud Wenonah Dragon, graduating in 1959. Bill continued his education at Wenonah Vocational Technical College in 1962. In 1962, he moved to Detroit where he lived with his uncle, Robert B. (Beatrice) “Aunt Bea” Hurd Jr. During this time, he attended McComb Community College for 2 years learning skills and trades that would help him during his later career. In 1968, he moved from Detroit to Flint to be with his grandparents and sister. During this time in Flint, Bill wore many hats and began to meet a lot of his friends for life. He owned a record shop. He shined shoes and worked at a local pool hall. Wherever there was action, there was “Little Bill”. In 1972, on a returned trip back to Birmingham to visit family and friends, he saw a familiar face and realized that he had met the love of his life, Marguerite Fitzpatrick. After a year and a half of courtship, they both knew that they wanted to spend the rest of their lives together. In the Fall of 1973, he proposed and she said “Yes”. They wed on June 10, 1974 and remained married for over 51 years. In 1976, they welcomed their first child, Wil Carson. In 1979, he stepped in to take on the father role of his niece, Wyceithia Fitzpatrick, who lost her mother at a very young age. In 1980, he welcomed his second son, Alex M. Carson. Bill and Marguerite sent all three of their children to college. All of which obtain degrees which is one of his proudest accomplishments. He leaves to cherish, his devoted wife, Marguerite Carson; his kids, Wil Carson, Wyceithia F. Williams, Alex M. Carson; grandchildren; Gabrielle Williams, Jaxon Carson, Emmavaughn Carson; sibling, Vivian (Petty, Dunlap), and a host of nieces and nephews (Petty Family and Williams Family).
