CALLESEN, Sandra Jo (Sari)– of Davison, MI, age 85, passed away Friday, July 10, 2026. Cremation has taken place. Sandra will be laid to rest with her husband, Richard O. Callesen, in Great Lakes National Cemetery on a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or to the Alzheimer’s Association, in Sandra’s memory.
Sandra was born in Flint, MI on December 25, 1940, daughter of the late Stephan and Katherine (Rogers) Sari. She was a graduate of Bentley High School's Class of 1959. Shortly after graduation, she married the love of her life, Richard O. Callesen, on July 18, 1959. Together they built a beautiful life centered on love, family, and unwavering devotion until Richard's passing on March 11, 2015. Sandra dedicated 30 years of service to General Motors before retiring in 1993. She was also a member of the Davison Country Club, where she enjoyed many happy days on the golf course with family and friends. An active and energetic woman, Sandra found joy in golfing, bowling, and taking her daily walks. Yet nothing brought her greater happiness than spending time with her family. She rarely missed an opportunity to attend her children's and grandchildren's activities, and her enthusiastic voice could always be heard from the sidelines. Sandra was, without question, their loudest and most devoted cheerleader, celebrating every accomplishment—big or small—with pride and unconditional love. Above all else, Sandra treasured her role as a mother. Raising her three sons was the greatest blessing of her life, and watching them grow into loving husbands and fathers filled her heart with immeasurable pride. Her greatest joy came from seeing the family she and Richard created continue to grow through future generations. Sandra will be remembered for her boundless love, unwavering encouragement, kind heart, and the lasting example she set of living a life devoted to family, and the people she loved most. Her legacy lives on in the countless memories she created and in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her.
Sandra is survived by 3 children, Richard O. (Anna) Callesen Jr., Russell J. Callesen and Randal E. (Jane) Callesen; 6 grandchildren, Brett Callesen, Jennifer (Patrick) McManaman, Sari (Casey) Mabe, Christopher Callesen, Kristen (Derek) Fox and Timothy (Gia) Callesen; 8 great-grandchildren, Lincoln Fox, Quinn Fox, Ava Rawls, Isla Mabe, Julianna Callesen, Cian McManaman, Freya McManaman and Isla Callesen; many other loving family members and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Stephan and Katherine Sari; husband, Richard O. Callesen and brother, Stephan Sari Jr.
