Visitation will also be held at the church from 10 a.m. on Thursday until the time of the service.

Jim was born on February 19, 1937, in Iowa Falls, Iowa to the late Robert and Arlene (Bailey) Triplett. He married Laragene Peck on November 26, 1960. Jim retired from Buick Motor Division after more than 30 years of dedicated service. He loved time spent with his wife, kids, grands, and greats. Picnicking on the patio with burgers fresh from the grill was his favorite. He spent summer days patio sitting with Laragene, enjoying the beauty around them, or sharing wisdom with his grandsons. Boating on Lake Leelanau held a special place in Jim’s heart. Being on the water, whether pulling skiers or fishing, brought him great joy. He enjoyed woodworking, puttering in his shop, and always had a project going. He liked working in the yard and flower beds, with a special dedication to pulling weeds. Over the years, Jim gave of his time and talents to being a SMILE volunteer at Springview Elementary, a trustee and active member of Flushing United Methodist Church, a volunteer handyman at the local outreach center, and providing wise counsel to his kids and grands. Jim had a strong faith and was kind and compassionate. He was never quick to anger and always quick to give.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Laragene; children, Scott (Leigh) Triplett and Tammy Triplett; grandchildren, Lauren (Guy) Kovacs, Ryan (Carrie) James, Brooke (Greg) Gifford, and Christopher (Hannah) Triplett; great-grandchildren, Gabriel, Grayson, Jacob, Ivy, Sutton, Oakley, and one on the way; and cousin, Stacy Stewart.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Arlene Triplett; stepfather, Gail Henderson; and brother, Robert Triplett.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to the Flushing United Methodist Church Construction Fund or Old Newsboys in Jim’s memory.
