Ricardo Lumbreras Sr., age 71, of Bay City, Michigan, passed away on December 1, 2020. He was born in Saginaw, Michigan, on October 26, 1949, to the late Guadalupe and Maria Paula (Garza) Lumbreras.

He was a member of Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Saginaw, Michigan and the Knights of Columbus. Ricardo and Teresita were married on December 30, 1967. They spent the next 53 years together and raised three children. Ricardo worked and retired from General Motors Grey Iron Plant in Saginaw Michigan. Outside of work and family, Ricardo was an individual who inspired to enjoy and have fun in life. His hobbies included bowling, boating, camping, ?shing, gol?ng, jogging, softball, and walks while listening to his Tejano music.

Ricardo was active and competitive with the Bay Area USBC. He was active in many sanctioned bowling leagues across the state of Michigan and throughout the United States. His achievements include being a continual member of the 700 Club as well as being recognized for bowling several 300 games. Ricardo also won championships in the Senior Bowling Tournaments in Bay City, Michigan.

Ricardo and Teresita were fortunate to visit places together in Europe, such as Spain and Germany, as well as vacation spots across the United States, Canada and Mexico. During their travels they enjoyed visiting casinos, landmarks, family and friends. Ricardo would love to play board games, cribbage and dominos with his children and grandchildren. These times with his children and grandchildren were his most cherished moments in life. Those who knew him well would say this it was his absolute passion in life to spend time with his grandchildren who called him “Papa”.

He is survived by his spouse, Teresita (Ortiz) Lumbreras; his daughter, Viola (Michael) Gowen of Plymouth, Michigan; his sons, Dr. Ricardo (Priscilla) Lumbreras Jr. of Granbury, Texas and David Antonio (Lisa) Lumbreras of Weiterstadt, Germany; grandchildren Abigail N. Gowen, Grace M. Gowen, Christian M. Gowen, Jacqueline C. Gowen, Amariz G. Lumbreras, Santiago R. Lumbreras, Paola S. Lumbreras, Victor L. Lumbreras and Dante L. Lumbreras. In addition, his siblings, Maria Steiner, Jose Lumbreras, Jesus “Jessie” Lumbreras, Dolores (Daniel) Lumbreras Schmidt, Arturo Lumbreras and Teresa (Joe) Martinez; special brother and sister-in-laws, Julian Ortiz, Elvira Rodriguez and Pedro (Maria) Ortiz; as well as many nieces and nephews. Ricardo was preceded in death by his father and mother-in-law, Abel and Lupe Ortiz; brothers-in-law, Abel Ortiz, Jose Ortiz, Tony Rodriguez, and Jim Steiner.

In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, Ricardo will be cremated and a service and celebration of his life will be held at a later date. The family would like to thank all of his family and friends who have reached out and showed an overwhelming amount of support during this difficult time.
