Kathleen L. “Kathy” Dick, 69, of 814 Kearsley St, Flint, Michigan passed away of natural causes at her residence on Friday, July 24, 2020.
Kathy was born January 28, 1951 in Flint to Charles and Carol Ash. She was the eldest of three sisters (Susan and Barbara). She graduated from Flint Central High School in 1969. Kathy married Douglas Dick in 1974, with whom she had a son Christopher Dick a year later. After the two divorced in 1985, Kathy decided to further her education. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Education and Human Services from Central Michigan University in Mt. Pleasant in 1991.
She was a compassionate, trusting, and skilled educator. She taught Pre-K at First United Methodist Church in Mt. Pleasant for several years before moving back to Flint to be a part-time teacher in the Flint Public School system. There was nothing that pleased Kathy more than to be able to practice and be an integral part of early childhood development. In addition to education, she was a dedicated member of Court Street Methodist Church, where she was also part of the choir.
Kathy enjoyed reading, puzzles, horses, card games (Cribbage, Euchre and Uno), Collies, Yahtzee, and television (Green Acres to The Middle). She also loved going to, swimming in, and taking long walks along the beach at Higgins Lake, where her family has a cottage.
Survivors include her son Christopher, of Durham, NC; her two sisters, Susan Ash, of Perth, Australia and Barbara Weiler, of Hale, MI; and several nieces and nephews.
