SKINNER, Ethyle Louise, age 90, of Burton, passed away Monday, October 5, 2015 at Regency of Grand Blanc. Funeral services will be 1:00PM Monday, October 12, 2015 at Atherton United Methodist Church, G-4010 Lippincott Blvd, Burton, with Pastor Bruce Billings officiating. The family will receive friends 12PM – 1PM Monday at the church. Interment will follow at Tanner Cemetery, Genesee Twp. Visitation will be 5-8PM Saturday and 1-8PM Sunday at Hill Funeral Home, 11723 S. Saginaw St., Grand Blanc. Memorial donations may be made to Atherton United Methodist Church.
Ethyle was born July 28, 1925 in Flint, the daughter of the late Benjamin F. and Anna F. (Hopkins) Mullet. She married Douglas D. Skinner on June 10, 1950 in Glendale, California and he preceded her in death on July 10, 2007. Ethyle was a resident of Flint most of her life. She did live in Los Angeles, CA from 1945-1950. In her younger days, Ethyle was employed as a telephone operator; then later as a bookkeeper in a tax firm. She was also employed by Atherton Community Schools and lastly by Tandy Leather Shop as a manager in retail sales. After retirement, Ethyle and Doug wintered in Bradenton, FL. She was a member of Atherton United Methodist Church for 65 years, joining in 1950 where she taught Sunday School for a number of years. Ethyle also was an active member of the Daughters of the American Revolution for 20 years. She was an avid crafter enjoying most her painting, needle point, jewelry making, and ceramics, as well being an ardent Detroit Tigers fan.
Surviving are her two sons, Jerry D. “JD” Skinner of Flint Twp., Ronald E. Skinner and wife, Sharon of Linden; three granddaughters, Carrie Skinner, Anna Bailey, Brittany Burns; brothers and sisters, Virginia Bechtol and husband, Herb of Ft. Myers, FL, Glen “Bud” Mullet and wife, Delores of Traverse City; four nieces and nephews; dear friends, Joseph and Arlene Caon and family.
