COGGINS, Mark David, age 51, passed away on Tuesday, February 23, 2021 at Hurley Medical Center in Flint, MI. Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will be held at New Calvary Cemetery on a later date.
Mark was born in Flint, MI on November 8, 1969, son of James and Virginia Coggins. He grew up in Otisville, MI, and graduated from Lakeville High School in 1988. After high school, he made Otisville his home. Mark was successful throughout his career, and always loved a challenge. He spent 19 years at Durakon Industries in Lapeer before the plant closed in 2009. Mark then went back to school, and received an associate degree from Mott Community College in 2011. In 2012, he hired in at GM’s Pontiac Stamping, where he spent the last 9 years. He loved to work with his hands, and was a great problem solver.
Mark married Jaynie Thompson on July 13, 2002, and celebrated 18 years of marriage this past July. He was very active in his family’s lives, and touched so many others. Mark was larger than life, and his presence would light up a room. His gift of storytelling was second-to-none, and he relished in delight when sharing them. Mark’s laughter was contagious, and it would brighten the darkest of days. He was an avid outdoorsman, and loved to hunt and fish. Mark loved to cook, and smoking pork and turkey were among his specialties. He also enjoyed a good glass of bourbon, spending time with family and friends, and spending time at his farmhouse in Ludington. Mark was a kindhearted, giving person who always shared what he had with others.
Mark is survived by his spouse, Jaynie; children, Jake (Lexi), Kristie (Bobby), and Bryan (Chelsey); parents, James and Virginia Coggins; brother, Steven (Lynette) Coggins; in-laws, John and Linda Thompson; brother-in-law, Ben (Lisa); grandchildren, Emma, Ally, Lily, Aubrey; nephews, Scott and Ryan; niece, Cori. He was preceded in death by his sister, Christine on July 10, 2017).
