KLATT, Louie – of Davison, age 96, passed away Sunday, July 1, 2018 with his daughter by his side at Magnolia House Senior Assisted Living of Davison, MI. A Funeral Service will take place 11 AM Saturday, July 14, 2018 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 5496 Lippincott Blvd., Burton, MI 48519; Rev. Gregory E. Ewald officiating. Burial, with Military Honors, will be in Crestwood Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 12 -7 PM Friday, July 13, 2018 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Rd., Davison, MI 48423. There will be one hour of visitation prior to the service at church on Saturday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Magnolia House Senior Assisted Living or Good Shepherd Lutheran Church.

Louie was born in Tuscola County, MI on September 23, 1921, son of Ludwig and Suzanna Klatt. He was the youngest of nine children. Growing up he helped his father work the sugar beet farm. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army from October, 1942 to January, 1946. He spoke Hungarian and German, and was a truck driver and interpreter during WWII in Europe. Louie married Anna Bunge on February 9, 1946 at Calvary Lutheran Church in Flint, MI. Together they raised three children who provided them with six grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. He retired from E.I DuPont in January of 1980. Louie’s pride and joy was his family. He enjoyed gardening, golf, the Detroit Tigers and was a lifetime member of the Davison V.F.W. Post #4087.

Louie is survived by his daughter, Emma Sue Stroud; Daughters-in-law, Gayle Klatt and Janet Klatt; grandchildren, Deana (Stephen) Hoague, Daniel (Traci) Klatt, Melissa (Brian) Wills, 1st Sgt. Andrew (Lilly) Klatt; great-grandchildren, Korey (Trista Lake) Ezell, Lyssa and Auston Woodell, Sterling Cole, Nick, Caleb, Noah and Hannah Wills, Lexi and Will Klatt, Michael and Riley Klatt; great-great grandchild, Aubri Youry; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ludwig and Suzanna Klatt; wife, Anna Klatt; sons, Donald and Jimmy Klatt; granddaughters, Gretchen Stroud and Tina Woodell; brothers, Ed, Gus and Ben Klatt, John and Julius Kovacs; sisters, Emma Klatt, Helen Bloomfield and Elsie Stroh.

The Family would like to say special thank you to Louie’s caregivers and hospice nurse, Sheila, Falon, Myrtle, Kailey, Jesse, Alex and Amanda.
