TROTTIER, George H. – age 93, died Friday, August 3, 2018 at his home.
Private service has been held.
Cremation has taken place.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to his granddaughter’s school, the Valley School in Swartz Creek.
George was born in Iron Mountain, Michigan on November 2, 1924. the son of the late Napoleon and Mary Jane (Weeks) Trottier. He grew up in Flint, where his family owned a grocery store on South Saginaw Street in Burton.
He graduated from Bendle High School in 1942.
George served his county in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II as Bombardier, 2nd Lieutenant.
He helped build and worked at his family’s resort, Great Northern in Oscoda on the shores of Lake Huron.
He married Wilma Smith in 1951 and worked at GM Fisher Body II plant for 30+ year. He was a member of the UAW and a proud progressive Democrat.
He enjoyed canoeing and cross-country skiing.
Surviving are by his daughter, Amy;
son-in-law, David Neil;
granddaughter, Harper.
He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews, whom he loved very much.
Special thanks to Susan Emmerling, who helped take care of him in his declining years.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 60 years, Wilma; sister, Irene and brother, Raymond.
