Vance, O. David – of Montrose, age 71, died Sunday, April 23, 2017, at his residence. A memorial service will be held at 1 PM, Sunday, April 30, 2017, at the O'Guinn Family Funeral Home in Montrose. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Sunday from 11 AM until the time of the service at 1 PM. Memorial contributions may be made to the Smile Train Cleft Lip and Palate Children's Charity or Heartland Hospice.
David was born February 22, 1946, in Huntington, West Virginia to the late Olen and Betty (Whited) Vance. He had resided in the Montrose area most of his life and graduated from Montrose High School. He was also a U.S. Army veteran. David married Kim Persons July 27, 1991. He retired from Chevrolet Metal Fab and was a member of UAW Local 659. David was also a member of the Montrose Eagles and a former member of the American Legion. He was an avid MSU fan and enjoyed gardening and spending time with family, especially his grandchildren.
Surviving are: Wife, Kim; 5 children: Dennis (Debbie Dowd) Vance of Louisiana, Robin (Rod) Maitland of Montrose, Shalane Vance of Maryland, Jennifer (Nathan) Grossbauer of North Branch, and Ashley (Joel Most) Vance of Flint; 6 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren; 2 brothers: Jim (Janice) Phelps and Dan (Theresa) Phelps; Sister, Sharon Vance; Special friends: Gregg Outen and Kathy DeWeese; David was also preceded in death by his step-father, John Phelps.
