ELLIOTT, Ardith Elaine (Rathje). – of Clio, age 75, went home to be with her Savior on Wednesday, December 20, 2017. A celebration of Ardith’s Life will be held 11AM Wednesday, December 27, 2017 at Messiah Lutheran Church, 520 Butler St., in Clio. Pastor Erwin Kostizen officiating. Burial in Thetford Township Cemetery to follow. Family will receive visitors at the church on Tuesday from 2PM until 9PM and Wednesday from 10AM until the time of service at 11AM. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to Messiah Lutheran Church’s Handbell Choir or Sunday School Program.
 
Ardith was born February 3, 1942 in McKinley Twp., Michigan to the late William and Loretta (Rathje) Sheldon. She attended Pigeon schools until 1957 when her family moved to Elkton. Ardith married the love of her life, James B. Elliott on December 28, 1957 in Hayes Methodist Church. This year would have been their 60th wedding anniversary. She was employed with TG&Y for 3 years and Michigan Bell (AT&T) for 20 years. Ardith attended Mott Community College where she earned her Associate Degree in Early Education. She is a member of Messiah Lutheran Church and a past member of Our Savior Lutheran Church. Ardith had such a love for children that the Lord guided her to teach Sunday School for over 30 years. She also served at Messiah through choir, altar guild, prior board member, Keenager Youth Group leader and her beloved Bell Choir. Ardith touched the lives of countless other children through years of volunteering at Clio, Flushing, Millington, Bridgeport, and Mt. Morris Schools where she was affectionately known as “GG” or “Grandma Elliott”. Ardith’s greatest loves in life were her Savior and her family. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her!
 
Surviving are: Husband, Jim Elliott; Children: James C. (Karen) Elliott, Kim (Dale) Vincent, Thomas (Etta) Elliott, and Pamela (Greg) Emmendorfer. 12 grandchildren: Michael (Jenny) Hensel, Katrina (Jon) Moore, Zachariah Hensel, Ryan (Bethany) Hensel, Colleen Hensel, Jamie McCartney, Joshua (Melissa) Elliott, Ian Elliott, Sean Elliott, Erin Elliott, Brandon Emmendorfer and Colin Emmendorfer; 13 greatgrandchildren: Madisen, Layna, and Cadence Moore, Philip and Eli McCartney, Jack and Ezra Elliott, Brayden Hensel, Kristopher, Karter, and Arianna Hensel, Mikayla and Jaxton Hensel and Nira Warren.
