Shirley L. Bird, age 74 of New Windsor died Sunday May 22, 2011 at
Cottage Hospital, Galesburg, IL. Services are 1 pm Wednesday May 25 at
Peterson Wallin Knox Funeral Home in Alpha. Burial is in the Petrie
Cemetery, New Windsor, IL. Visitation is from 4-7 pm Tuesday May 24 at
Peterson Wallin Knox Funeral Home, Alpha where memorials may be left to
Tri-County Ambulance or the New Windsor Fire Department. Online

Shirley was born October 12, 1936 to William and Edna Gould Ray. She
attended New Windsor schools and married Lawrence Bird June 13, 1952.
She was the owner/operator of the Circle Inn in New Windsor for 5 years and
was a member of the New Windsor Presbyterian Church and New Windsor
Sportsman’s Club in Victoria. Shirley liked to fish, hunt mushrooms, crochet
and was an excellent pie maker.
She is survived by her husband, 3 daughters; Sandra Beard (Fred Huber) of
Galesburg, IL, Gayla (Chris) Ralston of New Windsor, IL, Sherry (Keith)
Myers of Galesburg, IL and 2 sons; Kenny Bird of New Windsor, IL and
William (Paula) Bird of Moline, IL, Several grandchildren, great
grandchildren, and one sister, Dorothy Johnson of Galesburg, IL .
She was preceded in death by a son Rodney Bird and her
daughter Lisa Bird, her parents and two sisters.
