Elaine Agnes Simmonds, age 81, of Otisville passed away peacefully on May 3, 2026, at home with family by her side.
Elaine was born on September 2, 1944, and lived a life marked by love, kindness, and deep faith. She carried herself with quiet strength and a gentle spirit, and those who knew her will remember her as a loving, kind, and faith-filled woman whose presence brought comfort and warmth to her family and friends. Her life was centered on the people she loved, and she found great joy in the simple and meaningful moments that made a home feel complete.
On November 13, 1965, Elaine married the love of her life, Bob, and together they shared a devoted marriage that lasted more than six decades. Their life together was built on commitment, faith, and the blessings of family. Bob was her constant companion and partner through the years, and their marriage was a beautiful example of enduring love. Elaine was a devoted mother to Tony (Denise) Simmonds, Rob (Shelley) Simmonds, Michelle (Rich) Martin, Dave (Christa) Simmonds, and Ryan (Theda) Simmonds. She was also a cherished grandmother and great-grandmother, and she treasured every moment spent with them. Her family was the heart of her life, and she took great pride in each of them.
Elaine was preceded in death by her parents, Tony and Hazel. She carried their memory with her throughout her life, and the values they instilled in her. Her faith was an important part of who she was, and she lived as a Christian with a sincere devotion that guided her words and actions. She was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Otisville, where she was active in the Women’s Guild and enjoyed bible study. Her church family was an important part of her life, and she found fellowship and purpose in serving alongside others in her faith community.
Elaine enjoyed a variety of hobbies and pastimes that reflected her thoughtful and nurturing nature. She loved sewing and knitting. She was also an accomplished baker, especially known for her pies, which were made with care and shared with love. Gardening brought her peace and satisfaction, and she enjoyed watching things grow and bloom. She also liked playing cards and spending time with family, especially her grandchildren & great-grandchildren, who brought her great joy.
Funeral mass 11:00 AM on Thursday, May 7, 2026 at St Francis Xavier Catholic Church. Family and friends may visit 4:00 to 8:00 PM on Wednesday, May 6, 2026 at Jansen Family Funeral Home – Columbiaville, and Friday 1 hour prior to mass at church. Father Dennis Spitzley celebrant.
