YOUNG, Charles S. “Charlie” – Of Flint, age 83, died Wednesday, October 16, 2013 at Genesys Regional Medical Center.
Funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, October 20, 2013 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Pastor Carl Halquist officiating.
Burial in Great Lakes National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Medical Fund for his grandson, Seth Payton.
Visitation 2-8 p.m. Saturday and 12 p.m. Sunday until the time of the service at the funeral home.
Charles was born in Flint, Michigan on March 20, 1930, the son of the late Charles and Orilla Young, and was a resident of the Flint area all of his life.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He attended Trinity Assembly of God Church.
Mr. Young co-owned and operated Palace Gardens for 18 years, retiring in 1985.
Surviving are wife, Oneitta;
daughters, “Charlie’s Angels”, Michele Payton, Annette (Paul) Neumann, Rene’ Welchlin, Iva (Ian) Harrison and Glenda McNamara;
grandchildren, Robert (Stefany) Sargent, Seth Payton, Raechel (Rob) Monroe, Sarah (Sergey) Motorny, Oneitta (Nate) Louchart, Adam Neumann, Gary McNamara, Marissa McNamara and Carter Welchlin;
great-grandchildren, Grayson Sargent, Faith Payton, Gabby Monroe, Harrison Sargent, Phillip Motorny, Gavin Monroe and Simon Motorny.
several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Juanita, in 1988; great-grandson, Clark Louchart; two brothers, Donald and Norman Young and sister, Evelyn Vantivelt.
