John Kammerzell Jr., age 92 of Burton, MI, passed away March 29, 2026. The funeral service will be held 12:00 Noon, April 9, 2026 at Open Door United Methodist Church, 4010 Lippincott Blvd, Burton, MI 48519. The family will receive visitors from 10:30 AM until the start of the service with Paster Kim Metzer officiating. The burial will be at Dawn Memorial Cemetery. John was born in Au Gres, Michigan on November 8, 1933 to Jacob and Molly (Herman) Kammerzell. He married Alice Shaffer on October 23, 1954 while serving in the U.S. Army. He then worked for General Motors until he retired in 1994. He was a man who found joy in life’s simple pleasures. He loved gardening and woodworking—especially crafting toys and yard furniture. Known for his humorous sayings and unique expressions, John brought laughter to those around him. He also enjoyed traveling throughout Michigan and visiting family members wherever their work took them. He is survived by his daughter, Tamara (Joel) Saidoo; daughter-in-law, Monica Kammerzell; grandchildren Dustin Kammerzell, Chris Saidoo (and significant other Lyniece), Erica (Adam) Ragsdale, and Lauren (Rich) Hurst; as well as many great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was much loved and will be greatly missed.
John was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Alice Kammerzell, and his son, David Kammerzell. |
