BROWNSON, Joyce Yvonne (Jones) – of Davison, MI, age 95, passed away Friday, September 17, 2021 at her daughter’s home. A Funeral Service will be held 12 PM Thursday, September 23, 2021 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Road, Davison, MI 48423. Cremation will take place following the service. Inurnment in Richfield Union Cemetery. The family will receive visitors 10 AM-12 PM Thursday, September 23, 2021 at Allen Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Genesee County, in Joyce’s memory.
Joyce was born at the family home in Russellville, MI on May 12, 1926, daughter of the late Ellis and Violet (Clemons) Jones. She met the love of her life, Marshall P. Brownson, at the Russellville Ballroom. They were married on June 9, 1944 at the family home in Russellville. Marshall and Joyce enjoyed 74 years of marriage prior to his death on April 17, 2018. Joyce worked at Thompson’s Market, Millington Lumber Co., Wheelock Hospital and the family grocery store, Brownson’s Market. She loved to play Euchre, but did not take losing well! Joyce had an avid love of antiques, rummage sales and side of the road finds and kept a booth at Collette’s Antiques and Collectables. She made beautiful handstitched quilts and they were always in high demand.
Joyce is survived by 2 children, Jack (Paula) Brownson and Suzanne Hammond; granddaughter, Jeni (Darrell) Westerby; 3 great-grandchildren, Blake Westerby, Madisyn Brownson and Aliah Brownson; special niece, Jean LaVigne; many other loving family members and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ellis and Violet Jones; husband, Marshall P. Brownson; son-in-law, Don Hammond; 3 grandsons, Wade Salgat, Mark Brownson and Travis Brownson; sister, Eva Jean Russell.
The family would like to extend a very sincere thank you to Compassus Hospice for their wonderful and tender care. Rest in peace now, Mom.
