REYES, Ruben – of Burton, Michigan, age 66, passed away on Tuesday, June 16, 2026. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 1 PM on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 2316 Coldwater Rd, Flint, MI 48505; Father Thomas Firestone celebrant. Cremation will take place following the Mass. Visitation will be held 1-7 PM on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Road, Davison, Michigan 48423, with a Rosary Service at 6 PM followed by a time for sharing. The family will receive visitors again, on Wednesday at church, one hour prior to the service, beginning at 12 PM.
Ruben was born in Flint, Michigan, on September 26, 1959, the beloved son of the late Ralph and Neomi (Avila) Reyes. He married the love of his life, Maria Irma Sanson, on July 8, 2011, in Flint, Michigan, and together they shared a life filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories. Ruben retired from General Motors Local 659 after more than 30 years of dedicated service. He had a remarkable gift for connecting with people and made friends wherever he went. Known for his generosity, unwavering faith, and hopeful spirit, Ruben was truly one of a kind. He was genuine in every sense of the word, always making sure those he loved knew how much they meant to him - not only through his words, but through his actions. Ruben was often the life of the party, bringing joy and laughter to every gathering. He loved dancing, visiting local bars with friends, karaoke, and spending time with family. A devoted Detroit Lions fan, he remained loyal and supportive through every season. Ruben also enjoyed tackling do-it-yourself projects, photography, and collecting T-shirts from places and experiences that held special meaning to him. His kindness, faith, and joyful spirit leave behind a lasting legacy that will continue to live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
Ruben is survived by his wife, Maria Sanson-Reyes; children: Anthony N. Reyes, Jhovana (Guillermo) Sanson and Vanessa (Bret) Sanson; grandchildren: Sawyer Reyes, Maite Sanson-Morales, Galilea Sanson-Morales, and Katalina Sanson-Morales; siblings: Darlene Remagen, Arthur Reyes, Stella Handy, Richard Reyes, Alicia Donnelly, Rafael Reyes and Reynaldo Reyes; many other loving family members and friends. He was preceded in death by both parents.
