Elaine Ann Barta
Age 82 of Owosso, passed away peacefully on March 22, 2026 at The Meadows of Owosso, with her family by her side.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11am on Thursday March 26, 2026 at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Fr. Michael O'Brien officiating. Following the service, she will be laid to rest at St. Paul Catholic Cemetery. The family invites friends to join them at Nelson-House Funeral Home on Wednesday, from 4pm to 8pm, with a rosary to be prayed at 7pm.
Born in Owosso, Michigan, Elaine was the second of the nine children of Val and Blanche (Nacovsky) Barta.
Elaine graduated from St. Paul Catholic High School in the class of 1962. She went on to further her education at Siena Heights College (now University), where she proudly earned her bachelor's degree.
Her passion for education blossomed as she began her fulfilling career as a teacher at St. Joseph Catholic School, dedicating herself to nurturing young minds for 23 years. She then transitioned to Executive Assistant to the President/CEO at the Michigan Catholic Conference for 13 years until her retirement.
Elaine was a devoted member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. She was an avid quilter and reader. Travel was another of her great passions; she loved exploring new places. Elaine's love for her family was profound. She cherished her role as an aunt, showering her nieces and nephews with affection and guidance. A true baker, she was renowned for her delicious Chocolate Fruit Cake, a family favorite that brought everyone together during celebrations.
Elaine is survived by her loving siblings: Raymond (Jean) Barta of Midland, Edwin (Roberta) Barta of Gladwin, Lorraine (Marvin) Rogge of Owosso, James Barta of Owosso, Richard (Kim) Barta of Wolverine, Carolyn (Mark) Weaver of Lennon, Thomas (Lisa) Barta of Stevensville; and sister-in-law, Elaine R. Barta of Owosso, along with many nieces and nephews who held a special place in her heart. She is also survived by other loving family members and friends.
She was predeceased by her parents, Val and Blanche Barta; her brother, Donald Barta; and sisters-in-law, Susan L. Barta and Susan W. Barta.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to St. Paul Catholic School. |
