WHITMAN, Thomas L. – of Flint, MI, age 84, passed away on Tuesday, June 17, 2025, at his home. As were his wishes, cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will be held at 4 PM on Saturday, June 21, 2025, at Calvert Park Community Church of God, 2341 N. Genesee Rd, Burton, MI 48509; Pastor Alex Young officiating. The family will receive visitors one hour prior to the service, beginning at 3 PM on Saturday at church.
Tom was born on March 9, 1941, in Davison, Michigan, the beloved son of the late Alonzo and Anna (Noble) Whitman. He married the love of his life, Sally Lawcock, on December 15, 1961, in Flint, Michigan. Tom proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy for four years before beginning a long and dedicated career at Buick, retiring after 32 years of service. A true family man, Tom cherished time spent with his loved ones, especially on camping trips in Hillman, Michigan. He found great joy in fishing and caring for his yard. He also had a passion for antique car shows, where he enjoyed admiring classic craftsmanship. Tom was a faithful and active member of Calvert Park Community Church of God. He took great pride in his involvement with the jailhouse ministry and the Men’s Breakfast, always seeking to serve others and share his faith. He had a beautiful voice and a deep love of singing, sharing his gift with joy and spirit. Above all, Tom was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. His warmth, dedication, and love for his family and community will be dearly missed and fondly remembered.
Tom is survived by his wife, Sally; children: Kimberly (the late Richard) Vallaire and Tonya (Christopher) Breeden; grandchildren: Nichol (Alberto) Albiar, Thomas (Kaitlin) Breeden, Richard (Kelsey) Vallaire, and Elyse (Tyler) Woods; great grandchildren: Alberto Albiar III, Santiago Albiar, Aiden Vallaire, Bentley Woods, Izabella Woods, Carter Vallaire, Audrey Breeden, and Hudson Vallaire; many other loving family members and friends. He was preceded in death by granddaughter, Brooke Vallaire; nine brothers and sisters.
