MITRU, Jimmie G. “Jim” - Of Burton, age 78, died Friday, April 8, 2016 at his residence.
Funeral service will be held 1pm Tuesday, April 12, 2016 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint.
Private burial in Evergreen Cemetery.
It would give Jim and his family great pleasure if in lieu of flowers, please direct contributions to the Genesee County Humane Society.
Visitation 10am Tuesday until the time of the service at the funeral home.
Jim was born in Flint on June 13, 1937. Jim graduated from Flint Technical High School where he was a standout Quarterback for the football team. He was a member of the Genesee Hills Golf Course for over 40 years where he held his annual F.F.D.-F.P.D. Mitru Invitational. He scored his only Double Eagle at Genesee Hills. He was a Mason for many years. Jim was an avid golfer, hunter, fisherman and GAMBLER and spent his retirement years at Soaring Eagle Casino. Jim retired from the City of Flint Fire Department as a First Driver at “Club 8” and was a member of U.R.G.E. and Local #352.
Surviving are wife, Helen;
daughter, Laurie and husband Michael Boyd of Grand Blanc;
the loves of his life, grandchildren, twins, Brenna and Griffin Boyd;
and his beloved dog, Buster.
He was preceded in death by his step-son, Mark Schmitzer and mother-in-law, Helen Vamos.
