House, Robert J. “Bob” of Flushing, age 92, died Monday, October 20, 0225, at Majestic Care of Flushing. A private service will take place. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to AdvisaCare Home Health and Hospice.
Robert was born in Flint, Michigan on March 19, 1933, the son of Robert James and Lillian Freida (Parsons) House. He married Donna K. Ball on June 16, 1971, in Flint. They spent 45 wonderful years married when she preceded him on June 9, 2017.
Robert attended McKinley Elementary School and Longfellow Junior High and graduated from Northern High School. He went to Flint Jr. College and then to University of Michigan for his undergraduate and Medical School, graduating in 1958. Robert did his follow-up internship at McLaren Hospital. He had a family medical practice in Flint and Flushing. Robert was a member of the American Medical Association, Genesee County Medical Society, Michigan State Medical Society, and American Academy of Family Practice. His accomplishments were many and included, member of the Executive Committee at McLaren Hospital, member of Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee, Chairman of Family Practice at McLaren, Chairman of West Flint Family Physicians, member of Genesee County School Health Committee, member of Physicians Advisory Board of Blue Care Health Care, sat on the Physicians Advisory Board at Health Plus. He was active on the staff at McLaren, St. Joseph, Hurley and Genesee Memorial Hospitals.
In his spare time, Robert was a sports fan. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed his time at his cabin in Houghton Lake where he could fish. His family was his greatest joy and he enjoyed family celebrations and holiday get-togethers. He was a member of the U of M Victors Club and and U of M President’s Club, a recruiter of student athletes and a Gold Life Master of American Congress Bridge League.
Robert is survived by his children, Tricia and husband Gary Penn, Marty and husband Jerry Johnson, Liz and husband Tim Pendell, Jim and wife Lynne Gibbons, Tom and wife Jin Gibbons; grandchildren, Laren, Luke, and Megan Johnson, Katie and Jessie Begley, Tobi and Suli Gibbons, Gabi, Robert, and Nicholas Gibbons, Libby Bognar; great-grandchildren, Isaac, Riley, Nora, Miles; and sister, Barbara Davidson. He was preceded in death by his wife, Donna; daughter, Lianne Arthurs; his parents; and infant brother, Richard House.
