Melody Ann Shaffer, age 65, of Hillsdale, formerly of Burton, passed away on Tuesday, March 24, 2026, at her home.
A Funeral Service will take place at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, at Sharp Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 6063 Fenton Road, Grand Blanc. Pastor Darrin Brown will officiate, with a committal service following at Flint Memorial Park in Mt. Morris.
The family will receive visitors from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Monday, March 30; from 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM on Tuesday, March 31; and again from 10:00 AM until the time of service on Wednesday. Those desiring may direct memorial contributions to the family.
Melody was born on August 10, 1960, in Goodrich, Michigan, the daughter of the late Robert Sr. and Barbara (Tichenor) Woodbeck. She attended Carman-Ainsworth Schools and graduated from there.
Melody worked as a real estate agent before beginning her primary career at H&R Block, where she served as an office manager. She later became a very talented nail technician. In her free time, she enjoyed gardening, canning, and was an excellent seamstress. A later interest led her to develop expertise in essential oils.
She loved her family deeply and will be missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her husband, Steven Shaffer; son, Matthew Jr. (Darcy) McGinnis; stepchildren, Steven II (Jennifer) Shaffer, Andrea Cross (Jeff Smith), and Kevin Shaffer; grandchildren, Hailey, Macie, Aubrey, and Aleia McGinnis; Steven Shaffer III, Nathan Feoss, and Emily Sprague; Sydney Shaffer; Ethan and Abigail Cross; and Owen Shaffer; siblings, Robert Woodbeck Jr., Marcella Dumont, Margie (Doug) Woodbeck, and Rodney (Jenny) Woodbeck; aunt, Shirley Qualls; along with many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Melody was preceded in death by her son, Scott McGinnis.
