Joan J. Hawley, 89, of Lapeer, passed away on December 4, 2022. She was born on August 21, 1933, in Fostoria, MI, the daughter of Clarence and Edith June. She married William Hawley on May 28, 1950. Joan retired from AC Spark Plug in 1985, completing over 30 years of service. She enjoyed giving away her delicious baked goods, crocheting, Bingo and trips to the casino. She and her husband had fond memories of spending time together dear hunting in Michigan and playing shuffleboard in Florida during the winter months. Most of all she loved her family and the time spent with her 16 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren, and 10 great-great-grandchildren (with one on the way).
Joan is also survived by her husband of 72 years, William Hawley; daughters Janet (Matt) Kardos of Mt. Morris, Jacqueline (Ken) Sevener of Davison, Sherry (Ed) McIntyre of Lapeer; son William (Kelly) Hawley Jr. of Oak Ridge, TN; brother Virgil June and his wife; sisters Joyce Parker and Georgia (Harold) Heinbuck; sister-in-law Mabel Starkey.
Joan was preceded in death by her parents Clarence June and Edith (Shephard) June; step-father George Davis; also many siblings.
Friends may visit at Lynch & Sons Funeral Directors - Capstick Chapel in Lapeer on Wednesday, December 7th from 4-8 PM. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, December 8th at 11 AM at Lynch & Sons. Joan will be laid to rest at Flint Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to American Cancer Society.
