DELAY, James W. – of Lapeer, age 67, passed away at his residence after a courageous three-year battle with pancreatic cancer. A Funeral Service will be held 2 PM Saturday, April 11, 2015 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Rd., Davison; Pastor Mike Warren officiating. Cremation will follow the service. Visitation will be 11 AM-3 PM and 5-7 PM Friday and one hour prior to the service on Saturday. Burial of cremated remains with Military Honors will be in Great Lakes National Cemetery at 2:30 PM Thursday, April 16, 2015. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family or to the charity of one’s choice.
Jim was born in Flint, MI on September 16, 1947, son of the late Louie and Mary (Richardson) DeLay. He married M. Gloria Hernandez on December 5, 1987. Jim proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1966-1970 during the Vietnam Conflict. He retired from GM after 30 years of dedicated service as a Die Maker.
Jim is survived by his wife, M. Gloria DeLay; daughter, Allison Rieck; stepchildren, Marcia Repinski, Jared (Anthonette Hurley) Repinski; several grandchildren; siblings, John (Gerry) DeLay, Carol (Ron) Shook, Roger (Eileen) DeLay, Marsha DeLay, David (Laina) DeLay; many nieces, nephews and close friends who shared his passion of hunting, fishing and golfing.
