Greg Matthew Morel, 43, passed away on August 24, 2025, at Duke University Hospital after a long battle with Cystic Fibrosis and chronic rejection after transplant. He fought the good fight, finished the race, and kept the faith.
Greg’s character left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him. He was funny, intelligent, humble, compassionate, and deeply loving—a gentle man whose presence brought comfort and encouragement. He was cherished by his wife Brittney and loved dearly by his family.
Greg was born on May 7, 1982, in Flint, Michigan. After graduating from Birch Run High School in 2000, Greg went on to earn an Associate Degree in Radiography from Delta College. His professional journey led him to the University of Michigan Medical Center, where he served with dedication as an X-ray Technologist before transitioning into the role of Clinical Analyst for the MiChart Orders Team within the Information Technology Department. His work reflected both his technical skill and his thoughtful approach to problem-solving. While working at U of M he met his dearly loved wife, Brittney. They married on October 17, 2009, at Ann Arbor Assembly of God and made their home in Brighton. In 2015 they moved to the Carolinas, and for the past three years have resided in Sunset Beach, North Carolina.
Greg was a man of many talents and interests. He had a remarkable ability to work with his hands—whether maintaining his vehicles or caring for his home—and he approached every task with care and precision. Yet it was his faith in Christ that truly defined him. A devoted student of the Bible, Greg found joy in studying scripture and sharing its message with others. He loved leading a Bible study group every Thursday in Little River, South Carolina. His heart for evangelism and outreach was evident in all he did; he lived to help others know Jesus and encouraged those around him to live lives bearing the fruit of repentance and following Christ.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Brittney; parents, Rick (Susan) Morel; brother, John (Stephanie) Morel; sister, Lisa (Christopher) Phillips; father and mother-in-law, Kristopher (Mary Melissa) Williams; sisters-in-law, Meghan (Ryan) Nemeth and Kaitlyn (Kevin) Fiebelkorn; along with thirteen adored nieces and nephews: Samuel, Altynai, Andrew, Jenna, Joseph, Zachary, Abygail, Milieya, Zoephya, Sealye, Benjamin, Samantha, and Zachary.
Greg’s life was an example of unwavering faith and quiet strength—a life lived with purpose and love. May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him; and, most of all, encourage everyone to look to Jesus. It’s all about Jesus.
