CANADA, Shirley Mae – Of Flint, age 91, died Sunday, November 3, 2019 at Heartland Health Care Center - Fostrian.
Visitation 4-8pm Wednesday at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road Flint.
Funeral service will be held 11am Thursday, November 7, 2019 at the funeral home.
Dr. Max B. Hayden officiating.
Burial in Flint Memorial Park.
Contributions may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
Shirley was born in Flint on June 11, 1928, the daughter of the late George and Vera (Borden) Funch. On June 19, 1948, she married Harold R. Canada in Flint and he preceded her in death on April 28, 2017. Shirley was employed with the Atherton School District for 25 years and enjoyed all the students. She enjoyed taking care of her home and her family.
Surviving are two sons, James and wife Jan of Burton, and Richard and wife Suzie of Flushing;
8 grandchildren, Christa and husband Bobby Doman, Brittany and husband Sammer Abdallah, Michelle and husband Bob Grissom,
Jennifer and husband James Lang, Katie and husband Jeff Heystek,
Bryce Canada, Megan and husband Dave Jeannette and Joey Mattar;
14 great-grandchildren;
brother, George Funch;
and many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the nurses at Fostrian and Heartland Hospice for all their special care, and especially, Jill.
