After the Army, he worked for Friden (Singer) fixing calculators and adding machines for over 20 years. He then enjoyed a career as a motor route driver at the Saginaw News for over 30 years.

He loved going to football games, playing golf, fishing, bowling, and watching any sporting event his kids or grandkids were involved in. He also enjoyed shuffleboard for many years with his good friends and won many tournaments all over the State.

He was well known for his quick decisions and fair rulings as a blooper ball umpire in Bridgeport. He always enjoyed a home cooked meal, an occasional trip to the casino and a good game of cards.

He was a longtime member of St. Christopher's Church (St. Francis De Sales) where he was an active member and the president of the men's club for many years. He was a rare combination of someone who had a love for life and a firm understanding of what was important - the simplicity of living a life with those you love.
