He later graduated from the University of Michigan-Flint in 1998 while working at AC Spark plug. However, he was a diehard Michigan State fan! He was a lifelong amateur radio operator from the age of 16 with the call sign K8GSR. Tom had made contact with hundreds of countries during contests and periodical communications as an Amateur Extra. Tom proudly served in the US Marine Corps from 1960 to 1963. Stationed in Okinawa, Japan he worked on radar systems in the Marine Aircraft Wing. After discharge he worked for Hughes Aircraft in southern California.

Tom married Dianne Massar February 14, 1980 in their home, and again June 30, 1984 at St. Pius X Catholic Church in Flint, Michigan.

He worked at AC Spark Plug for 30 years in engineering. During his time there he was a co-inventor of a patented resistor material. He supervised the Reliability lab and the Dyno lab.

Tom and his wife, Dianne traveled extensively to compete in tennis events in and out of state. Eventually they both switched to golf and played in many outings and leagues. Also, he served on the board of directors at the Goodrich Country Club as Vice President. Most recently he served on the Grounds and Finance committee and in 2003 he miraculously got two holes in one in the same week!

Tom loved his family with all his heart and will be greatly missed. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Dianne, daughters, Kimberly Badger, and Sandy Kudza. Grandchildren, Michael (Meagan) Kudza and Sarah Mountjoy. Great-grandson, Finnley Kudza. Sister, Mildred Friesorger and many nieces and nephews.
