Leonard Lyle Pickelmann - Of Swartz Creek, age 76, died Monday, May 16, 2016.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 20, 2016 at Flushing United Methodist Church, 413 East Main Street, Flushing, Pastor Debbie Line-Yencer and Rodney Ruppel officiating.
Visitation 3-8 p.m. Thursday at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road.
Mr. Pickelmann will be at the church at 10 a.m. Friday
Lyle was born October 18, 1939 to the late Leonard M & Beatrice (Ashby) Pickelmann in Birch Run, Michigan.
He attended United Methodist Church in Flushing, MI. Lyle served in the military for four years before hiring into General Motors. He married Jean Osborne in 1971, and they raised 3 children in Swartz Creek. He had a lifelong love of helping others, wood working, home improvements, and gardening. His favorite activities were spending time with family, socializing, camping, and working on “projects.”
After losing his wife of 41 years, he was blessed with a second love – his wife Ila. With their union in marriage, he became blessed again with additional children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. He was loved by all that met him, and he was adored by all the people in his life.
He is survived by his children Rochelle (Kevin), Christina (Tom), Leonard (Mindy), Greg (Jan), Gayle (Terry), Julie (John), Mark (Tammy), Tony (Vicki), Rodney (Becky), Kheila, and Karen (Rod). He is also survived by his grandchildren Alexandra, Madison, Nicole, Tiersa, Gaten, Lexie, Marcus, Jonathon, Stephen, John, Megan, Parker, Payton, Ryan, Blake, Rhadee, Madison, and Karter. Surviving great grandchildren are Jaxon, Maddox, Ellis, Preston, Taylor, Mason, and Emma. Also surviving are countless nieces, nephews, and extended family & friends. Lyle is also survived by his best friend, Ray and his family, and his sister-in-law Kathleen.
Preceded in death are his nieces Robin & Pam, his brothers Gerald & Delmar, and his sister in law Thelma.
