POWELL, Evelyn J. – of Genesee Twp., age 84, passed away July 26, 2018 at Hurley Medical Center. Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will be held 2:00 PM Thursday, August 2, 2018 at Davison Missionary Church, 1481 N. Gale Rd., Davison. Pastor Douglas Connelly officiating. Visitation will be from 1 PM until time of service on Thursday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Food Bank of Eastern Michigan or Outreach East.

Evelyn was born in Flint, MI on March 25, 1934, daughter of the late Bryan and Winnie (Hubbard) Barks. She married Kenneth Powell on October 30, 1953. They were married for over 60 years before his death on July 19, 2014. Evelyn was a member of Davison Missionary Church. She enjoyed knitting and making wedding cakes. Evelyn worked in registration at Jellystone Park in Frankenmuth during the summers. She lived in Arizona for several years. Evelyn took great pride in raising her children.

Evelyn is survived by children, Wes (Shelia) Powell, Pam Tobias and Bruce (Barb) Powell; grandchildren, Brad (Carrie) Powell, Jamie (Drew) Sipley, Kristin (Andy) Leavitt, Lindsay Powell, Jennifer (Kevin) Boggs, Jaclyn (Pat) Garl and Jessica (Mark) Wright; 15 great-grandchildren; sisters, Geneva (Ivan) Page, Jerri (Mac) Beck and Freda (Jim) Smith. She was preceded in death by brother, Gene Barks.
