HARKINS, David A. – Of Flint, age 69, passed away Friday, February 27, 2026, at his sister’s residence under hospice care.

Funeral service will be held at 12pm Wednesday, March 4, 2026, at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint,

Reverend Paul Ytterock officiating.

Visitation 5-8pm Tuesday and 11am Wednesday until the time of the service at the funeral home.

Cremation will take place following the service.

Contributions may be made to the Genesee County Humane Society.

David was born in Flint, Michigan on July 26, 1956, the son of the late George and Thelma (Hansen) Harkins. David graduated from Carman High School, Class of 1974 and earned his Bachelors of Science from the University of Michigan-Flint with honors. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, traveling and being with his family. David retired from General Motors-Buick Division after 30 years of service and was a member of UAW Local #599.

Surviving are siblings, Liz (Darrell) Stevens, Melinda (Robert) Brewer, Jeneane (Doug) Warner, Gladys Jackson and Rex Harkins;

Several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his sister-in-law, Noreen Harkins, brother-in-law, Jay Jackson, nephews, Dana Warner and Kirk Warner, nieces, Tracie Warner and Joan Harkins.
