BERRY, John Thomas “Tom” – of Linwood, MI, age 76, passed away suddenly on Saturday, April 19, 2025. Cremation has taken place. The family asks that you please join us for a Celebration of Life on Wednesday, April 23, 2025 from 4:00-8:00 PM at The Fraternal Order of Eagles #3814, 3317 E. Bristol Road, Burton, MI 48529. He will be laid to rest in the future at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, MI.
Tom was born in Flint, MI on May 17, 1948, son of the late Arthur and Catherine Berry. He married Lynda Beckwith on September 27, 1969 and she preceded him in death on September 26, 2008. Although he was heartbroken after losing the love of his life, he was blessed to have found love a second time with his fiancée, Sandy Marron.
Tom spent his career serving in roles supporting the electrical construction industry as an estimator and project manager. He loved technology and always had the newest and best computers, stereos and televisions. He was a kind and loving person, full of warmth, hugs, kisses, and silliness. He was always willing to help anyone in need, his love knew no bounds. He was the best role model we could ask for and set an example none of us will ever live up to. Although he was a perfectionist, he lovingly accepted the imperfections in those around him. He was always a hard worker, was dedicated and dependable. He loved spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He was always there for his family whether it was sporting events, school events, or life milestones, he was always present. Tom could always be found watching his children’s swim meets through the years. He was so dedicated, in fact, that he once received a speeding ticket on the way to the pool trying his hardest not to miss an event. Although his family is heartbroken over his loss and will miss him every day, we know he has left his wheelchair behind and is dancing in heaven with Lynda.
Tom is survived by his fiancée, Sandy Marron; his children, Julie Berry, Janell (Rob) Russell, Ryan (Sara) Berry and Caren (Matt) Arion; grandchildren, Megan (Percy) Russell, Austin Petrie, Jack Berry, Molly (Josh) Russell, Ellie Berry and Robert (Maesen) Russell, Jr; step-grandchildren, Nick and Patrick Arion; step-children, Tom (Lisa) Shoemaker and Melissa (Wayne) Drouse; step-grandchildren, Andrew (Lexie) Shoemaker, Brittany (John) Lobodzinski, Lakyn (Ben) Shoemaker, David (Amber) Shoemaker, Logan (Ashlynn) Ayers and Lindsey Drouse; great-grandchildren, Percy Hammons IV, Kai’Ro Hammons and Andrew Shoemaker Jr.; sister and brother-in-law, Gayle Wilcox and Lewis (Vickie) Beckwith III; cousins, John Werle and Kate McNenly; many other loving family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lynda Berry; his parents, Arthur and Catherine Berry.
