WILSON, Iloree Mae - Of Flint, age 96, died Thursday, June 22, 2017
at Hospice House of Shiawassee County.
Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, June 26, 2017
at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint, Pastor Vicki Kuhn officiating.
Burial at Great Lakes National Cemetery at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 29, 2017.
Those desiring may make contributions to Hospice House of Shiawassee County.
Visitation 1-4 p.m. and 5-8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Iloree was born February 23, 1921 in Lansing, Michigan, to Joseph and Edna (Bryan) Clukie. She graduated from Flint Beecher High School in 1938.
She married her high school sweetheart, Vernon C. Wilson on November 22, 1939, in Angola, Indiana. Together they lived in the Flint area for over 61 years, moving to Sandusky, Michigan in 1991 and then back to the Flint area.
For many years, she served as youth director at the First Church of the Nazarene Flint.
When their two children were in high school, the family agreed that Iloree could pursue an education since four years of college were now available in Flint, Michigan.
She enrolled in college in 1956 and earned a B.A. in English in 1960. Iloree taught at Davison High School from 1960 - 1963 then at Fenton High School for 1964 and 1965. After earning her M.A. degree, she then taught in the Carman-Ainsworth School District for another 18 years.
Surviving are husband, Vernon;
daughter, Janet and husband Richard Bradford of Loudon, Tennessee;
son, Lanny and wife Teri Wilson of Davison, Michigan;
many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren;
several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by 3 sisters, Wahneta Clukie, Vivian Bechtel and Lucille Harmon.
