Francis "Frank" Diegel, age 94 of Lapeer, passed away on November 4th, 2021. He was born on October 10th, 1927, in Koylton, Twp., MI to Norman and Elnora Diegel. Frank is survived by his nephews Robert (Kristine) Diegel, Michael (Christine) Diegel, Peter (Barb) Diegel, Paul (Laura) Diegel, Richard (Sheryl) Diegel, Michael (Elizabet) Flannigan, Larry (Barb) Fischer, Duane (Denise) Fischer, and Randy (Sue) Fischer; nieces Elaine Villalpando, Patsy (Kevin) Schweninger, Penny Isenbergh, Debra (William) Skinner, Phyllis (Jim) Huff; also his dear friends Melissa and Nathan Petrie and their three children Alex Petrie, Kelsey Morse, and Olivia Petrie.
Frank was preceded in death by his parents Norman and Elnora; sister Reita, brothers Eugene, James, and Thomas; long-time companion Donna DuVall
Frank was tragically blinded at an early age, but went on to be a successful Myomassologist and practiced in Lapeer for several years. His clients were not only his patients, but were treated as good friends. Frank will always be remembered for his unique sense of humor and amazing memory. He was really such an unbelievable man...he taught those who knew him, what the true meaning of perseverance and overcoming really meant. He had so much knowledge of so many subjects...especially many facts about the state of Michigan and its beautiful sights. He had a steel trap for a memory and rarely forgot a name or place from his past. He was the guy that "heard the world we saw". He was so proficient at his vocation, actually a calling, that people traveled from miles away to be treated by him. He never let his blindness stop him from anything that he wanted to do or accomplish. It was never a "handicap" to him. Frank had many friends, and enjoyed talking with and being with people. A true icon of the 60's and 70's of Lapeer. He will be greatly missed by so many.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, November 12th at 11AM at Lynch & Sons Funeral Directors - Capstick Chapel in Lapeer. Father Mike Gawlowski will officiate. Friends may visit prior to the service from 9:30-11AM at the funeral home. Frank will be laid to rest at St. Patrick's Cemetery in Clifford, MI. Memorial donations to the Foundation Fighting Blindness are appreciated. |
