MARTIN, Edward Lee – of Burton, MI, formerly of Davison, MI, age 85, passed away on Thursday, March 4, 2021 at his residence. A Funeral Service will be held 1 PM Monday, March 8, 2021 at Richfield Church of the Nazarene, 7524 East Mt. Morris Road, Otisville, MI 48463; Pastor Alan Duce officiating. Interment, with Military Honors, immediately following the service in Richfield Union Cemetery. The family will receive visitors 11 AM-1 PM Monday, March 8, 2021 at Richfield Church of the Nazarene. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Richfield Church of the Nazarene or JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation), in Ed’s memory.
Ed was born in Flint, MI on June 10, 1935, son of the late Richard and Chloe (Hackett) Martin. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1952-1956 during the Korean Conflict, aboard the U.S.S. Yosemite based in Newport, RI. Ed married Bonnie Gray on December 4, 1957 in Clio, MI and she preceded him in death on December 19, 2019. He was a long-time member of Richfield Church of the Nazarene. Ed retired as a semi-truck driver for Mechanic Uniform after many years of driving for Buckler Beverage. He enjoyed spending time with family Up North at “Martin Scrub Oaks” boating, deer hunting and driving “thru the pines”. After retirement, Ed loved watching the Detroit Tigers and any westerns on TV as well as camping at Round Lake. Visits and phone calls from any of the children and grandchildren were always special and would be the highlight of his day. His faith and family meant everything to him.
Ed is survived by his 4 children, Kathy (Terry) McClain, Lori (Gary) Hastings, Lyn Terwilliger and Kelly Martin; 8 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; sister, June Warby; brother, Frank (Donna) Martin; sister-in-law, Judy Zudell; many other loving family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Chloe Martin; his beloved wife, Bonnie Martin; brother, Dick Martin; 2 sisters, Pat Burton and Wanda Sample.
