Tomalia, Janet Mae of Flushing and Alpena, age 83, died Friday, February 6, 2025. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Janet was born in Flushing, Michigan on April 10, 1942, the daughter of Earl and Hermie (Beamer) LaBarge. She married James Tomalia in April of 1961, at St. Robert Catholic Church in Flushing. Janet began her career working at Chevy in the Hole and then as a Teacher’s Aide, before joining her husband at his family business, Flushing Lawn and Garden. Janet loved spending time at their home in Alpena. She enjoyed spending time on the water and rock collecting. Her family was her greatest joy and she loved being a grandmother and great-grandmother.
Janet is survived by her husband of 64 years, James; children, Jim (Christy) Tomalia, Randy Tomalia; grandchildren, Leigha Tomalia, Nathaniel (Melanie) Tomalia, Kira (Christopher) McCain, Mahgan (Peter) Weinrauch; great-grandchildren, Elliana, Olivia, Piper, Adelynn, Victoria; her beloved dog, Max; and her Lappan Road neighbors and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Fred and Don LaBarge; and sister, Joyce Hammel.
We would like to express our gratitude to all the Lappan Road friends and neighbors. Your friendship, kindness, and support was unwavering. Our mother loved all of you dearly.
