Age 87 years, died Tuesday, March 8, 2011, at his home. He was born on August 22, 1923 in Shiawassee County to the late Joseph and Ella (Frost) Gillisse. Charles was employed as a heavy equipment operator for Hartley and Hartley for 21 years and with Johnson Contracting for six years. He served with the Army Air Corps during World War II. On May 17, 1947 he married Roseanell “Midge” Neveau and they shared their lives for 58 years, she passed away on June 30, 2005.
Surviving Charles are his daughter, Judy (Fred) Hagaman; his two sons, Kenneth (Debra) and Rocky Gillisse; four grandchildren: Fred (Jodi) and Matt Hagaman, Brian (Sara) Gillisse and Wendy (Phil) Smith; five great grandchildren: Quintin, Trentin, Kaley, Brianna and Natalie; his brother, Joseph (Dale) Gillisse; brothers and sisters-in-law; Delores (Paul) Gendron, Donna (Richard) Precour, Lorraine (Norm) Roth, Willard, Jeanette, James (Ellen), Robert (Carol), Carl (Karen), Fred (Bonnie), Barbara, Donna Neveau; many nieces and nephews. Besides his wife and parents, Charles was preceded in death by a son, Jeffrey Gillisse and sisters and brothers-in-law; Marie, Frank Neveau, Marcella McPherson, Al Neveau, Diantha (Arthur) Schuchardt, Tom, Lynn, Jack, Eva, Floyd Neveau, Ruth Roth, Iva (Harold) Roth.
Funeral Service will be Saturday, March 12, 2011 at 10:00AM in the Trahan Funeral Chapel. Pastor Joseph Atchinson will officiate and interment will be in Floral Gardens Cemetery with military rites under the auspices of the Bay County Veterans Council. Memorials may be directed to donor’s choice. Visiting hours will be Friday from 2:00 to 8:00 pm and on Saturday from 9:00 AM until the time of service in the W. A. Trahan Funeral Chapel.
