Marilyn "Ruth" Lasley, née Mitchell, age 70, passed away peacefully on September 11, 2025, in Flint, Michigan. Born on April 13, 1955, in Flint, to her parents Ralph A. Mitchell and Hazel R. Tennant. Ruth was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She is survived by her beloved husband Rockland W. Lasley; her daughter Amy Lasley; her son Stoney Lasley and his wife Amber; and her five cherished grandchildren: Jalen McClain, Austin Dodd, Qortez Wallace, Joslin Lasley, and Jasmin Lasley. She also leaves behind her sister Laura (Brian) McGovern, brother Larry (Donna) Mitchell, and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. Ruth was preceded in death by her sister Edith L. Mitchell and her parents. Ruth graduated from Kearsley High School in 1973 and spent most of her career in healthcare. Her life was centered around love, especially for her family. She found immense joy in spending time with those closest to her. Her grandchildren were the light of her life, and she never missed an opportunity to shower them with affection. Known for her warmth and gentle spirit, Ruth had a special fondness for babies and could never resist holding one close. Her days were often filled with laughter playing bingo or during spirited card games with friends and family. Ruth was also an avid reader. Those who knew Ruth will remember her as the kindest, sweetest soul, always ready with a smile or a comforting word. Her legacy of love and compassion lives on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her. In accordance with the family’s wishes, services will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family invites you to honor Ruth’s memory by donating to your favorite charity. |
