Janet Myers, age 88, of Gaines, passed away Tuesday, April 16, 2024. Janet was born in Cheltenham, England on July 31, 1935,to Arthur & Gladys Davies. Her formative years were spent in wartime England during World War II. She loved telling stories from her childhood and teaching her family about their English heritage. She met the love of her life, Thomas Myers, while he was in the United States Air Force stationed in England. They were married on June 25, 1955, and moved to Michigan to start their new life together. They were married for 68 years until his death in February.
Janet was employed at General Telephone Company for many years until her retirement in 1983. She loved crocheting, researching genealogy and tending to her flower gardens, however, her greatest passion in life was being a mother and grandmother. Grandma will always be remembered for her Yorkshire pudding, soft boiled eggs with “soldiers”, teatime, and “walk abouts” the garden.
Surviving are her four children, JoAnn (Mark) Gray, Kevin (Nancy) Myers, Nan Myers and Anjie Klier; 7 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and 3 great great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; granddaughter, Danielle Gooch; sister, Vivienne Ash; and brother, Christopher Davies. She was also preceded by her three beloved Boston Terriers,Missy, Tuppence and Daisy.
Cremation has taken place. A private inurnment will be held at St. Joseph Cemetery in Gaines at a later date. Contributions can be made in her memory to Midwest Boston Terrier Rescue at MWBTR PO Box 297, Kent City, MI 49330 or on PayPal Btresq@charter.net.
